In all Swedish massage, the therapist lubricates the skin with massage oil and performs various massage strokes. These movements warm up the muscle tissue, releasing tension and gradually breaking up muscle "knots" or adhered tissues, called adhesions.
Swedish massage promotes relaxation.
Deep Tissue Massage
Deep tissue massage uses firm pressure and slow strokes to reach deeper layers of muscle and fascia (the connective tissue surrounding muscles). It's used for chronic aches and pain and contracted areas such as a stiff neck and upper back, low back pain, leg muscle tightness, and sore shoulders.
No oil or lotion is applied, so you can be fully clothed.
The therapist uses their hands, knees, legs, and feet to move you into a series of yoga-like stretches and also applies muscle compression, joint mobilization.
